I was not a big fan of jewelry. Whenever I accessorize myself, I always wear a nice watch. When I was working as an editor, my mentors taught me to love jewelry. In the beginning, I was not into it. As the years go by, I learned to love it.
Of course, we have the usual suspects when it comes to fine jewelry: Harry Winston, Graff, Tiffany and Company, Cartier, Graff, Chopard, and De Beers.
I am more interested in modern jewelry. I believe that jewelry is an investment.
My mother always tell me that buying jewelry is worth your money... good for her.
I am drawn to the design and modernity of a piece... like a work of art.
Here are some of my favorite jewelers in the industry:

Yesterday, I had an appointment with Virginie of Jay Ahr. We discussed some future projects together for Jonathan's fashion house. I love going to his showroom on Madison Avenue because I feel that I am in Paris.
I took pictures of his showroom and focused on his amazing taste when it comes to interior design.
And also, Virginie and I enjoyed a bottle of white wine... from Jonathan's collection.
I am glad to be a part of Jonathan's family.
Back in the 90s, designers launched their junior line. They saw an emerging growth in the junior department. If you have the money to spend, go ahead and buy.
I remember going to Hong Kong with my mom and sisters and visit my pseudo gay uncle (he loves girls). He enriched my vocabulary in the world of fashion. All I heard from his mouth is Thierry Mugler and Versace. Every time he'd picked us up at the airport, he gave us monogram accessories from Louis Vuitton (pre Marc Jacobs).
At 11, I had at least 4 Louis Vuitton accessories given by my generous uncle (mom's friend).
He said, "Gipettto, your mother will kill me if I tell you these new designers."
I replied, "Of course not, she won't. I just want to know."
I gave him a devilish look. Meaning, my mom would have to kill him. She knows when we go to Joyce Boutique, I needed something new... EXPENSIVE.
One of the names he gave me was Versus by Gianni Versace.
During Spring/Summer 2010 Milan Fashion Week, Donatella Versace will relaunch the VERSUS line. This secondary line of Gianni Versace was launched in 1989. This was the first design job of his sister, Donatella. The company closed its doors in 2005 due to financial difficulties.
Now, the brand that made Donatella famous will rise again. She also commissioned Christopher Kane to design a small capsule collection for the accessories line... BEADED GALORE!!!
I am amazed with the VERSACE family. They have the courage and determination to resurrect a brand, even though the global economy is not doing well.
Bravo to you guys!!! Best of LUCK!
CHRISTOPHER KANE AND DONATELLA VERSACE!!!

After having a glass of champagne at the Cartier Mansion, I had to rush to my meeting at Fred's at Barneys New York. My meeting was with Virginie Levy of Jay Ahr. From my previous posts, Jay Ahr is one of my favorite brands in the fashion industry. I believe he has an amazing taste when it comes to design.
Virginie and I were talking about the future for Jay Ahr when Roger Federer came in. He was with his whole family. I always have my special table at Fred's. To my surprise, Lorraine seated Roger and his guests beside my table.
We could not concentrate because we love Tennis so much. I do not play the sport, but I enjoy men playing on the hard court.
I convinced Virginie to ask Roger for an autograph. After a couple of glasses of white wine, she had the courage to ask him for two autographs. We were so happy.
It made our day. Match point.
Yesterday, I went to see my good friend Claudia Mata from Town and Country. I have not seen her in the longest time. We always have fun together. We just do not talk about fashion, but we talk about different things in life.
When I was working at the Hearst Tower, she became one of my good friends. Our first encounter was at the New York Public Library. Vacheron Constantin was hosting a huge party for the launch of their latest edition of watches.
Finally, I approached her and introduced myself. After that, we became best of friends.
Well! If I were straight, I'd date her. She is oozing with sex appeal. Men drool over her. On top of that, she has an amazing personality... meaning she is not a ROBOT.
One of my pet peeves, ROBOT-LIKE Human Beings...

I was lounging on my white couch when I received a call from Lily O'Boyle. She asked me if was free tonight to watch a movie. Of course, I said yes.
I have been hearing good reviews on Renee Zellweger's new movie, "My One and Only ." It is a romantic comedy about George Hamilton's family. I know of George Hamilton because his best friend is Imelda Marcos, the Evita Peron of the Philippines.
Renee did a phenomenal job playing the role of George's mother. She has an Oscar statue to prove that she can really act. You can never get tired of Renee.
I do not want to spill the beans and tell you about the movie. You have to go and see it. I am biting my tongue right now. I have to keep my mouth SHUT!!! SSSHHH!!!
At the end of the day, the most important people in our lives... family. You may lose all of your friends and lovers, but the family will be there to support you in all of your endeavors in life. No matter what happens, they're right behind us at all times.
The movie is showing at the Paris Theatre in New York City.
I highly recommend it! Two thumbs up!!!
Today, I am multi tasking. I have an appointment with my old boss from SAGA Furs of Scandinavia at David Burke and Donatella. He was responsible for getting me a job in the magazine. I got an email from him last week from my yahoo account... I rarely check it. He wanted me to come back to the company and work as a freelancer.
What I like about Charlie? He gives me so much freedom. He knows I do not abuse that power, but he listens to me when I start opening my mouth.
Remember! I like discovering new talents in the fashion industry. It gives me the utmost thrill. I feel like an adventurer in Dries Van Noten clothes discovering unknown regions of the industry... like Indiana Jones (fashionista style).
Besides my GURU, he gave me so much knowledge about FUR. I know there are so many PETA protesters out there, please do not kill me.
It has been 4 years since I last saw Charlie. I am glad I am back with them.

After watching the second season of Rachel Zoe Project, I had to switch channels and watch David Letterman Show. Vogue editrix Anna Wintour will be interviewed by funny man David Letterman. She was very spontaneous... meaning she did not have a script. She was in her true form.
This is the first time I have seen Anna loosen up. She made a funny comment about a write-up made by The New York Times about the September Issue documentary.
She said, " I am the ice queen! I am the sun king! I am an alien fleeing from district 9! I am a dominatrix. It makes me a luke warm royalty with a whip from outer space."
The audience laughed. She has a British humor.
Of course, the most powerful being in the fashion industry can share some laughs.
She also pointed out that she is a decisive person and she expects nothing, but the best.
Everyone in the fashion industry has been awaiting on the outcome of Anna's interview.
In my opinion, I have never seen her this relaxed and funny.
So many people try to be here, but Anna will always be at the seat of POWER!
September Issue opens to the public on August 28 at Chelsea's Clearview Cinema.
Reality shows became a part of the American Culture. People thrive in drama. Well! I became an avid follower of different shows. Bravo is the leading network that showcases reality TV.
Tonight, The second season of the Rachel Zoe Project will air at 10pm. She is one of the best and most controversial stylist in the fashion and showbiz industry. Remember! She had a couple of scandals about her weight and her infamous clients (Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, and Mischa Barton). And also, she loves wearing vintage clothes and accessories.
She is a fun person to watch. I just love how she stacks all of her jewelry.
I met her a couple of times. You know what? She is the nicest. She does not forget a name or a face.
Let her and her crew take you into the glamorous and chaotic world of fashion and showbiz.
Trust me, you guys will DIE!!!

Once again, Miss Venezuela's Stefania Fernandez won the crown for Miss Universe 2009. It is a back to back win for the country that believes in producing pageant queens. The infamous Andre Leon Talley of Vogue asked her a witty question on how women should surpass the boundaries in a corporate world.
Her red ball gown revisits the dress Penelope Cruz wore at a previous Vogue cover. She exudes class, style, and sophistication. Her answer was straight to the point that women surpassed the boundaries between men and women. Meaning, men and women are equal in this modern world.
The prestigious pageant was held at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino in the Bahamas. What a way to spend a Sunday night?
Once again, beauty and brains thrived in these type of pageantry.
A couple of years ago, I met the lovely Dr. Lisa Airan at Amaranth through my friends from Celestina. She is one of the nicest people I've known. On top of that, her husband Trevor is also a gem.
We became friends through my fashion guru. I did not know that she is good friends with my scion. Every time I see her, we always talk about fashion and life. She is one of the best dermatologist in New York.
Besides her profession, she is one of the fashion icons of New York Society. At the recent Costume Institute Gala, she wore an amazing piece of art... Balmain. She dropped the Rodarte look and took a bold step in bringing out her inner vixen by wearing an all black ensemble. She knows her style.
She loves wearing these following brands: BALMAIN, MARC JACOBS, LANVIN, GIAMBATTISTA VALLI, J. MENDEL, ERDEM.
If you know her well, you will fall in love with her personality. I am glad I did... Stellar.
