JUST IN- HILLARY CLINTON WEARS JAY AHR

My good friend, Jonathan Riss, from Jay Ahr just emailed me photos of Hillary Clinton wearing one of his designs. She chose a green, silk chiffon caftan for this special occasion. Mrs. Clinton looks stunning and beautiful for the pre wedding party of her daughter, Chelsea Clinton. Her daughter must be proud for this fashion forward number from her mom.

I believe she made the right choice. This is a bold step for the Secretary of State to wear something that is not an Oscar de la Renta or Carolina Herrera.

Well! I am glad she showed her feminine side by wearing this dress. Tough job to be one of President's Obama's representative to the WHOLE world.

Congratulations Jonathan. You deserve only the BEST!!!

LIST FOR MYSTERY MAN- DRIES VAN NOTEN

Yes, I am a Taurus and I love beautiful things. If you look at my closet, most of my shoes, pants, shirts, scarves, belts, and other accessories are from Dries Van Noten. 11 years ago, I was obsessed with Marni... things do change. DRIES VAN NOTEN rules the menswear arena... no offense to the other brands.

When mystery man comes back from his trip, I will show him these amazing pieces from Dries Van Noten's Spring 2011 Men's collection. He will laugh so hard. He gives me nothing, but DRIES.

I am in love with the white shirt inspired by artist Jackson Pollack. I will have this shirt by December. Perfect outfit for vacation.

The geometric block pants are to die for. For sure, these will be hanging in my closet together with the bag of the same print.

I LOVE talents like Dries Van Noten. It makes me want to dress up even more.

CACHEREL RISES ONCE AGAIN!!!

I am a big fan of prints. I believe they add life to the whole outfit. Besides Dries Van Noten and Liberty of London, my current obsession is Cacherel. Finally, they found the right designer for the ailing house. Cedric Charlier is gearing Cacherel to the right direction.
They are known for PRINTS.

Let us see how this house evolves. It is always a challenge to resurrect a name brand. Look at Celine, the hottest fashion house in the industry.

They are available at Barneys New York.

LUCKY 13- ALIONA DOLETSKAYA STEPS DOWN AS RUSSIA VOGUE EDITRIX

After 13 years as the editor-in-chief of Russian Vogue, Aliona Doletskaya steps down. She was once rumored as one of the candidates to replace Anna Wintour... I guess not. Even though I do not understand Russian, I like looking at the fashion pages of Russian Vogue.

For me, it is a fresh take on fashion compared to American Vogue. She has an eye for beautiful things.

What do you think is Aliona's next step? Write a memoir? Sabbatical? Create her own magazine? Who knows?

The next step for her career will be great. She won't leave her position, unless there is something better for her to do.

ANGELINA JOLIE IN VINTAGE VERSACE

Versace hired a good publicist to promote the fashion house. As I said, I love Versace when they do evening gowns.
Angelina Jolie wore a vintage Versace dress for the Moscow premiere of Salt. The draped back of the dress showed her Tiger tattoo.
She should be Versace's ambassador. She knows how to rock the clothes.
First of all, she is beautiful and beautiful.
Simply amazing. Congratulations Lucio.

PATEK PHILIPPE'S PARTY ON THE ROOF

Last Tuesday, I was invited by the people from Patek Philippe to view their latest collection from Basel, Switzerland. It was held on the garden roof top at Rockefeller Center.

I am a huge admirer of the watch company. One in particular, I like the Nautilus design. It is so masculine.

The decor was spectacular.

Guests include: Rusell Simmons, Yaz Hernandez, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld.

The store will open this coming Sunday, July 25

PIERRE HARDY'S MUST HAVE MEN'S BOOTS

Besides Lanvin and Dries Van Noten, I adore Pierre Hardy. The label focuses on simplicity with the essence of sophistication. His resume includes designing shoes for Balenciaga and Hermes. He is the BEST.

Well! I found my boots for Fall. The Chelsea boot was updated by having a double buckle as the main detail. It reminds me of a modern pirate boots.

It's too bad that I have to order it from Paris. Barneys New York will carry only sneakers this season. It's a shame.

People from the fashion industry admire his work. The general consumer is slowly absorbing his impeccable design.

PAPER BAG MORPHS INTO LEATHER!!!

Miuccia Prada is one of the best designer in the fashion industry. I have been an avid fan, since I was 12 years old. My mother gave me my first black back pack as a gift for my birthday. It came in a white paper bag with white Prada ribbons tied on the handles.

After that, I have been collecting Prada's runway pieces. I just love it when she does prints on bags. For Resort, she made her old white paper bag into leather.

I thought it was bizarre. I have nothing against logos, but this is too far.

Do you think she is running out of ideas? It was a let down for me.
Wait a couple of years and she will be showing her blue paper bag designed in leather.

Trust me, people will still buy this bag.
What's going on in the world of luxury?
Sigh!!!

REEDER'S PROPHECY XXXI- THE EMPEROR HAS NO SHOES

For this entry, I want to talk about Mystery Man. After this, I will resume my report in fashion.
He sent me a funny picture of his feet. I thought it was hysterical.

He said on his email, "After all the shoes I gave you, you left me with nothing to wear."

PS: He gave all of my Dries Van Noten and Lanvin Shoes from Spring 2010.

THE NEW IT BAG- CELINE

Since Phoebe Philo's return to the fashion industry, she heads the creative team of CELINE. Besides making amazing minimalist clothes, she knows how to do a collection of accessories. She revived the almost forgotten fashion house.

Her bags are simple with clean lines. Indeed, CELINE is the hottest label in the fashion world.

You can purchase these bags at Barneys New York, Jeffreys, and Bergdorf Goodman.
They sell like hotcakes.

Get one and you will know what I am talking about.

GLAMOUR'S NEW EXECUTIVE FASHION DIRECTOR

I guess the magazine world loves to play musical chairs with editors. Former T Magazine fashion editrix Anne Christensen is moving to Glamour magazine. She will be taking the post of Xanthipi Joannides as the new executive fashion director next month.

Anne has been with the New York Times for 10 years. I believe that she made the right move of going to Glamour. The magazine needs more fashion pages. It is also a slap on Anne's face by not getting the Editorship at T Magazine. What a shame?

I wish her all the luck!!!

ANGELINA JOLIE SHINES IN VERSACE!!!

Angelina Jolie is one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood. Her style is simply effortless. You do not need to doll her up to make her look stunning. She is promoting her new movie, "SALT".

She wore an amazing strapless dress from Atelier Versace in Cancun, Mexico. She paired it up with white/cream peep toe heels from Ferragamo.

Angelina knows how to make a grand entrance in any press junket. She must always wear Versace. Donatella and her have good chemistry.

How I wish Atelier Versace comes back to the Haute Couture runway? I know it is a big production. I would love to see beautiful and well crafted clothes like Versace.

Who knows?

BEST FOOT FORWARD- COUTURE SHOES

As much as I love looking at beautiful clothes, I adore amazing shoes. I always say to my clients that the shoes help vamp up the entire look. I consider shoes as an art form. You have to look at the heels and the details... beadwork, appliques, embroideries, and trims.

These are my favorite shoes from Haute Couture 2010. And the winners are...

CHANEL
DIOR
VALENTINO
GAULTIER

BADGES OF HONOR- DRIES VAN NOTEN!!!

As you all know, I am a huge admirer of Dries Van Noten. I buy all of his pieces: scarves, shoes, bags, belts, shirt, trouser, and jackets. He has the best selection in Barneys New York, Homme et Femme in Manila, Joyce in Hong Kong, and Browns of London.

I believe he is genius. He is just the best menswear designer in the fashion industry.

I love going to Browns of London's website. They have the best selection of Dries Van Noten. As I was browsing through their site, I saw these amazing badges in crests and crowns.

I cannot wait to get a hold of them. Perfect as an accent for suits, shirts, and bags.

You have to get these hot badges. Go to www.brownsfashion.com.

CHANEL'S AMAZING LION!!!

Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, he knows how to put up a spectacular stage for his fall/winter 2010 haute couture collection. From my previous post, I was not a big fan of his collection this season. It looked like it came out from a Disney fairy tale.

The golden lion, where one of its paws was resting on a huge pearl, was the highlight of the show. Add a snake to its tail and another head... Chimera.

For me, the clothes should have done justice rather than the monstrous beast.

I am entitled to my opinion. What do you think?

LION'S DEN-COCO STYLE!!!

VALENTINO KNOWS HOW TO THROW A PARTY

Valentino Garavani is one of my favorite designers in the fashion industry. Besides creating amazing dresses, he knows how to throw a fabulous party. As Haute Couture season ends, he invited some of his close friends to his chateau outside Paris.

Guests include: Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Jane Fonda, Blake Lively, Anna Wintour, and Claire Danes. The party is about Valentino's archives: pictures, sketches, letters, and other memorabilia... amazing.

Madonna's on and off boyfriend was the guest DJ of the night.

ELIE SAAB'S LOVE FOR LA FENICE

This season, Elie Saab's inspiration came from his love of the legendary La Fenice Opera House in Venice. He presented one of the most wearable Haute Couture collection for Fall 2010. The dominant color of the collection... Red. Other colors like mint, yellow, gold, bronze, and silver made the show vibrant and alive.

His shows may not be as theatrical like Gaultier, Chanel, and Dior. Well! He knows his clientele and their checkbooks are ready to fly away after the show is done.

Good job!
