MAGIC 8 AT THE EMMY AWARDS!!!

Last night’s Emmy Awards, celebrities got ready for the red carpet to pose in front of the camera. There were only a few women who made to my top 8.  First  up,  Julie Louis Dreyfuss.  She wore a deep burgundy gown from Vera Wang’s bridal collection. She looked stunning. You can tell that she is loving her look. Nicole Kidman never looked better than last night’s event. She wore Antonio Berardi’s Spring 2013 collection. The icy blue and white combination complimented her pale skin. She looks so good when she is polished and well put together.  Julie Bowen’s yellow Monique Lhuillier is a showstopper. Yellow can be tricky because it is the color compared to Big Bird. She pulled it off in a very good way. Her white Bo Chic earrings complimented her gown.  Next on our list is Alicia Quarles from E! News.  She wore an aqua blue off the shoulder gown from David Meister. She accented her look with diamonds and emerald disc earrings. Her purple/malachite Rafe clutch complimented her look. Indeed, fashion is a part of her vocabulary. The stunning and sexy Lucy Liu wore Versace. She and Donatella have good chemistry. The chain mail dress from Fall 2012 fits her like a glove. I am sure the dress is quite heavy, but she rocking the dress. Joan of Arc could have rolling in her grave out of excitement. Leslie Mann wore Naeem Kahn’s Spring 2013 gown. She opted for a white/yellow combination. I love the turquoise jewelry. It gave life to the ensemble.  Jessica Pare’s Jason Wu reminded of the 40s and the 50s. She knows her fashion and she works the red carpet so well. I love her clean style. Lastly, the stunning Sofia Vergara. Her green beaded mermaid gown from Zuhair Murad is just screaming sex. I am so thrilled that she didn’t wear any demure gowns this year. She looked like a glowing disco ball inspired from Versace’s archives. She owned the look.  Congratulations to all the celebrities and to their stylist for doing a great job.

NEW YORK'S FINEST!!!

Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, and Donna Karan were the top designers who showcased their amazing collections during New York Fashion Week.   Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa showed white/black couture like collection. What caught my attention? A white strapless dress with a 3D knit overlay. I thought it was genius. Narciso Rodriguez’s clothes were to die for. I am a big fan of his work. Aside from his linear details, he added floral beadwork embroidery to his collection. The clothes are softer but sharp. Michael Kor’s bright and fun 60s inspired collection reminded me of the early days of Courreges. He used all the colors of the rainbow. I thought it was fun and inspiring. On the other hand, Marc Jacobs knows how to put a show. His inspiration of Edie from the 60s became the start of a remarkable collection. Stripes, swirls, and zigzags were the dominant details in the collection. When everyone goes to the right, he makes a dramatic turn to the left. Prabal Gurung’s inspiration from an   Indian artist proves to show his love for art. Most designers will take it literal, but he interpreted in a modern way. Jason Wu’s Helmut Newton inspired collection gave his women the vixen persona.  It was a departure from his Shanghai Express collection. Women would love to wear it. Rodarte’s barbarian sci-fi collection gave New York Fashion week a strong boost. The sister’s know how to WOW their spectators.  I am so proud of them. Alexander Wang’s clothes gave me fond admiration for the designer. At the end of the show, lights went off to show the glow in the dark effect of his clothes.  Lastly, Donna Karan collection was a nod to nature. The colors of white, camel, blue, pink, and green gave life to her pieces. These designers showcased magnificent pieces. I am so glad they made a difference during fashion week.

MARIA'S LOVE FOR THE GAME AND FASHION!!!

Maria Sharapova is the most fashionable tennis player in the world. The number 3 seed knows how to dress during her tennis matches. In the first round of the US Open, she wore a lilac ensemble that is soothing to the eyes. She loves fashion and it shows with all of the outfits she wears on and off court. At her 4th round match, she wore a black ensemble with yellow details. The back of her outfit shows the Tron detail in yellow. She matched her dress with bright yellow shorts to give a pop of color. The soles of her white Nike shoes are yellow. At the recent ESPY awards, she wore pale blue Grecian dress from J. Mendel. The French Open champion and Silver Medalist in the recent London games know how to mix fashion and sports. I hope someday I can work with her and show my magic.

ANOTHER ATELIER VERSACE MOMENT!!!

At the recent Venice Film Festival, Kate Hudson strutted on the red carpet wearing Atelier Versace from Fall 2012. The stunning beaded nude gown gave the actress the hourglass figure. The Swarovski-crystal-embellished asymmetrical gown looks like a second skin on Kate. The mesh cut-out details highlighted the over all look. The color of her dress gave radiance to the actress' blonde hair. The hair and make-up completed the whole look. The Edie Parker box clutch in champagne complimented the couture dress. Faberge jewels added more sparkle to this sexy ensemble. Leave it to Donatella Versace and her team for creating show-stopping pieces for the red carpet. I am a big fan of her couture collections. Every time an actress wears her creations, the phoenix comes out from within. For me, this is the best dress I have seen so far at the festival. Congratulations to the team of Lucio di Rosa.
