THE PERFECT CHOICE!!!

Yesterday's fitting was successful. In a matter of 2 days, I pulled 60 gowns for my client to try on for her upcoming event. The moment she arrived at the venue, we started trying on dresses. I had to do my edit so she she won't be overwhelmed. After 2 hours, we decided on a magnificent dress. All I can say, the ensemble is a show stopper. I jokingly said to her, "Once you receive the award, please don't forget to mention your glam squad." She started laughing and said, "I won't forget."

It made my day. All my hard work paid off. I would like to thank my two assistants, Alanna and Carolina, for being hard working, dedicated, and patient for this challenging task. My gratitude to all of my friends in the fashion industry who helped me make this fitting happen. In the end, it pay offs to be nice, honest, and real in the industry I work in.

BUTTERFLIES!!!

Last week's fitting didn't go well. She loves all of my choices, but she had a specific look she wanted. As a Taurus, I love a challenge. It took me 2 days to gather 60 red carpet dresses. I am very thankful to all my peers in the fashion industry for all their support. I am experiencing butterflies in my stomach right now. When I am a little nervous, things go my way. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

After this, I need to focus on my business trip to Moscow. My mother always give me sound advice. I know God is by my side. I can feel it.

L'AMOUR FOU-PASSIONATE LOVE!!!

I had to take a 3 hour break in preparation for my final fitting tomorrow with my client. I took the advice of my dear aunt, Paola Isabela Tornito, to watch the documentary film of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge. Indeed, he is the leader of his time. After the death of Christian Dior, he assumed the position as head designer of the house at the age of 21. Then, he continued designing collections under his name. YSL is known for deriving inspirations from different cultures of the world. His success made him one of the innovators in fashion. His work can be seen in some of the collections of international designers. Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the few designers who took note of YSL's genius work. The film is currently showing at the Paris theater in New York. After viewing the film, I was motivated to make good of my craft. It was worth every minute of my time. I am glad I made the decision to sit down, relax, and enjoy a movie. When you are passionate with what you do, success is not far behind.

INSPIRATIONS FOR A WEDDING!!!

My younger sister will tie the knots with her German fiance this coming December. I have been helping her with the preparations. I am still searching for the perfect wedding dress. She wants to wear vintage Cristobal Balenciaga. Her entourage will be wearing tutus inspired from the movie, "The Black Swan". Her bridesmaids will be wearing feathered head pieces inspired from the movie, "Water for Elephants". The color scheme of her wedding will be in dark camel, blush pink, and lilac. The festivities will be held in Manila. I can't wait to see everything come together.

MUSES OF THE GALA!!!

Last week's El Museo del Barrio's event was successful. It was also a triumphant moment for designer Narciso Rodriguez. He made one-of-kind pieces for Gala Chair Yaz Hernandez and Academy Award Winning Actress Kate Winslet. Narciso's career catapulted when he designed the wedding dress of Caroline Bessette Kennedy. His loyal followers include: Sarah Jessica Parker, Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, and more. He is known for creating simple pieces with attention to a woman's body. His style lines and fit made him the go to designer of all socialites and celebrities. A woman feels sexy without being vulgar when they slip into one of his dresses. In fashion, it is a challenge to make a woman elegant, sophisticated, classy. Narciso mastered the art of simplicity. I met him several times. He is the nicest and humblest designer in New York. I have so much respect for him as a person and as a designer.

SEQUINED EVENT!!!

Last Thursday, I attended the El Museo del Barrio at Cipriani's on 42nd street in New York city. It was a successful event. The museum honored Mario Testino. Gala chair Yaz Hernandez gave a witty and humorous speech which made the audience laugh. At the last minute, I had no clue what I was going to wear. I wanted to get away from the classic black dinner jacket. Thank God for my good friend Lucio, he came to the rescue. He sent me 2 options from Versace's Spring 2011 collection. The first option was a black tailored suit. Unfortunately, the jacket was too tight... I couldn't breathe. Then, the black and white beaded jacket with a built in vest caught my eye. As the saying goes, "No Guts No Glory." I went with my instinct. True enough, I received many compliments from my peers and guests at the event. I accessorized my ensemble with a black satin clutch from YSL. The shoes in patent and grosgrain corset detail were from YSL. To complete the look, I added a skinny bow tie from Dior Homme.

The Versace jacket vamped up my entire wardrobe.

RELAXATION TIME!!!

Yesterday, I went to the Mandarin Oriental spa to have a relaxing 80 minute massage. The experience was amazing. I needed the treatment for all the hard work I have been doing. I felt I was in paradise. Emma was assigned to be my masseuse for the day. The spa only uses the best oils in the world, Espa from London. After my session, I went into the steam room to relax. The spa is very private that you do not see anybody. I had the best experience. I need to do it once a month. It will cost you $400.00 to have the treatment. It was worth every penny.
