When the first look came out, spectators assumed that the collection was inspired by Rooney Mara's movie. The bangs misled the audience. It may came across Donatella's mind to reference her collection with the talented actress' look, but it was a tinge of it. For this season, she was thinking of a stronger and powerful woman from the past. Joan of Arc is one of the fearless woman of all times. She used the details of armor, breast plates, chain mails to add strength to the clothes. The use of the Byzantine Cross is a sign of power of world domination. This magnificent crucifix can be seen throughout the show in coats, dresses, and tops. She went back to the archives of Gianni Versace in 1997. She combined Gianni's collection from the ready-to-wear and couture. She re interpreted the collection and made it modern. Aside from black, she used bright colors in yellow and orange. A Versace show won't be complete without show stopping gowns. What caught my fancy? A chain mail gown that looks easy to move in. I wasn't a big fan of the Versace spelling dress. It could have been edited out from the collection. The legion of Donatella's army came out in full force. It brought out the inner vixen of the designer.
