The vixens experience full power in Paris. Two of the greatest heroines of the city of light: Balmain and Balenciaga. These two talented designers paved way to the modernity of fashion. Their women cannot be described by words. Every time I hear the names Balmain and Balenciaga... FASHION AND BEYOND.
These two designers separate themselves what New York, London and Milan are doing. They know what their women want to be... FIERCE and FEROCIOUS.
For this season, Balenciaga dismissed the notion of cocktail dresses. Nicholas Gheisquiere had enough of seeing these dresses on the runway. Who goes to cocktail hour? No one. He opted of going back to his roots... chic sportswear. There were a lot of high waisted pants with attention to detail. Sleeveless track jacket that fit like a glove. Shoes that say, "BUY ME or YOU WILL BE LEFT BEHIND." I believe this is one of his fearless and strongest collection. It is a departure from his fascination of draping from the previous collection. Needless to say, Balenciaga has been the leader in the evolution of fashion.
On the other, Christopher Decarnin of Balmain did an amazing job for the house. His vixens were not from the 80s. They evolved to powerful women who are ready for the kill. The mixture of silhouettes made this collection strong. He used a lot of leather, tattered knits, and Napoleon Bonaparte inspired jackets.
His ideal woman is from the Amazon jungle that morphed to something else... Modern.
These two designers make the fashion industry exciting. With a few disappointments from New York, London, and Milan; Paris will set the trend for an intense Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
In fashion, women want to dream. Right now, women want to feel powerful, strong, and ready in any obstacles that come along their way.
So this is what we call REAL fashion... GO FIGURE!!!
Balenciaga never fails.
