Once again, my friend Bea Valdes' jewelry worn by KATE MOSS appeared on the cover of British Vogue's September issue. She is one of the few designers that put the Philippines on the fashion map.
A couple of years ago, I set up the meeting with Bea and Rachel Roy (The name Gipetto came from her) at the Rose Bar, Gramercy Park hotel. She is a huge fan of Bea's. The meeting led to a couple of drinks. To show Rachel the Filipino hospitality, she gave her one of her black embellished bags. Rachel had mixed emotions. She almost cried.
Bea's pieces can be seen from a mile away... statement jewelry. She comes from three generations of fine jewelers in Manila. She took interior design at the Inchbald school of London, where she won the "designer prize." She is a true ARTIST.
